Fireman William F. Manger

Fireman William F. Manger, badge #306, was appointed on 6/16/1942 and was assigned to Engine 24. He transferred on 7/1/1943 to Engine 20. On 11/13/1948, Engine 20 was responding to an alarm when it was struck by a car. Both vehicles caught fire. 3 out of the 4 civilians in the vehicle died as the result of burns sustained in the incident. F/M Manger died as the result of his burns. He was 42 years old at the time of his death. F/M Benedict Witkus was also seriously burned in the incident and did not survive.
