William F Boland

Fireman William F. Boland, badge #29, served in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. He was appointed during the part paid/call-man system on 1/4/1867 and was assigned to Engine 11. On 9/15/1903, Engine 11 was responding to a fatal fire when the Hose Wagon upset at Myrtle Ave and Orange Street. F/M Boland was seriously injured. The next day he died from his injuries. His brother was also assigned to Engine 11 and was working the day of his accident and death. He was 58 years old at the time of his death.
