Fireman Salvatore Vacca

Fireman Salvatore Vacca, badge #902, served in the U.S. Navy. He was appointed on 3/1/1959 and assigned to Truck 11. At a two-alarm fire at Station 1436, on South11th Street on 10/13/1962, he was attempting an interior rescue when he became trapped on the second floor. He was later found dead of smoke inhalation. He was 29 years old at the time of his death.
