Fireman Richard A. Heinze

Fireman Richard A. Heinze, badge #382, was appointed on 1/12/1972 and assigned to Engine 7. On 2/14/1983, he transferred to Truck 11. On 6/1/1992, he was elected President of the Newark Firemen’s Union. On 6/28/1998, he went back to the field and was assigned to Truck 12. On 6/4/1999, Truck 12 returned from a run and a short time later F/M Heinze collapsed in the bunkroom from cardiac arrest. All attempts to revive him were futile. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was 47 years old at the time of his death.
