Fireman Joseph G. Buhl

Fireman Joseph G. Buhl, badge #360, served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was appointed on 2/15/1956 and assigned to Engine 18. He later transferred to Salvage 1. At Station 5328 at 4:43 A.M. on 4/11/1961, he was operating at a four-alarm fire at the Englehorn’s meat packing plant on Avenue L when a wall collapsed on him. He died from his injuries a short time later. He was 35 years old at the time of his death.
