Fireman Joseph C. Woolley

Fireman Joseph C. Woolley, badge #860, was appointed on 8/31/1918, temporarily, and on 9/1/1918 was assigned to Engine 22. On 10/1/1919, he was made a permanent member and remained at Engine 22. On 6/3/1922, Engine’s 22 and 4 collided at Plane and Warren Streets just after 6 P.M. while responding to Box 14 at 42 Warren Street. F/M Woolley was thrown from Engine 22 and suffered a fractured skull. On 6/10/1922, he died from his injuries. Several other members were also injured. He was 36 years old at the time of his death.
