Captain Frank E. Kirkbride, badge #695, served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was appointed on 12/16/1949 and assigned to Truck 8. On 3/1/1959, he was promoted to Captain and was assigned to Truck 7. At a two-alarm fire Station 1436, at 270 South 12th Street on 4/7/1963, he suffered from smoke inhalation while fighting a structural fire. He was treated and taken home, where he later collapsed from a heart attack. He was 47 years old at the time of his death.
