Captain Raymond R. Reilly, badge# 274, was appointed on 6/16/1942 and was assigned to Truck 5. On 2/8/1953, he transferred to Engine 5 to drive B/C. On 3/22/1954, he transferred to Engine 9 to drive B/C. On 10/31/1954, he was promoted to Captain and assigned to Truck 1. On 4/8/1966, while off duty in Bloomfield, he was electrocuted and killed while trying to rescue a boy stuck high in a train tower. A civilian was also killed trying to help. The boy was rescued by Bloomfield Firefighters. He was 52 years old at the time of his death.
