Captain Frank J. Welch

Captain Frank J. Welch, badge #766, was appointed on 4/16/1917 and was assigned to Engine 1. In 1918, he served in the U.S. Army during WWI. He returned to duty on 1/2/1919 to Engine 1. On 4/16/1931, he was promoted to Captain and assigned to Engine 8. On 8/9/1950, he was getting out of the apparatus upon arrival at fire alarm Station 5934 when he collapsed and died from a heart attack. He was 60 years old at the time of his death.
