Captain Daniel J. McCoy

Captain Daniel J. McCoy, badge #407, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was appointed on 7/1/1948 and assigned to Engine 3. On 9/8/1954, he transferred to Truck 9. On 10/11/1957, he transferred to Truck 1. On 10/7/1960, he was promoted to Captain of Truck 1. He transferred to Truck 5 on 11/19/1962. In 1972 he was assigned to Fireboat 1. On 7/30/1972, the company was out on a drill when Captain McCoy collapsed on the Fireboat and died from a heart attack. He was 46 years old at the time of his death.
